1891

The  Manor Pavilion Theatre opened in 1891 and was originally called The Manor Hall.

1933

A visit by Oxford Repertory Company in August brings productions of ROPE by Patrick Hamilton & ON APPROVAL by Frederick Lonsdale. In the cast of ROPE (and very possibly ON APPROVAL) is one Miss Margaret Rutherford. Also cast is Stringer Davis, who would become Miss Rutherford’s husband.

1960s

In the off-season, Ronald Govey was a London Taxi driver.

1961

Terry Day recalls the 1961 Season lasted 22 weeks. He was paid £12 per week and there were just 13 in the Company.

1992

Assistant Stage Managers were paid £50 per week.

2002

Actor Chris Harper left the Summer Season just before it ended having been offered a role in the film ‘Charlie – playing Alan Richardson, brother of Charlei Richardson, leader of the gang who were arch enemies of the Kray twins. Chris would appear with Luke Goss as Charlie. He would later go on to play Victoria Wood’s son in Housewife 49 and in 2016 first appeared in Coronation Street as Nathan Curtis, a role he is still playing in 2024.
