BAZAAR & RUMMAGE – Gwenda, an ex-agoraphobic, leads a self-help group of three who have been unable to leave their homes for a variety of reasons. She forces them to help at a local bazaar, enlisting the’support of Fliss, a trainee social-worker. While sorting through the rummage their individual fears erupt but calm is restored by the ever-sensible Fliss. As they leave the hall it is apparent their agoraphobia is not cured but they have made the effort.

GROPING FOR WORDS – Joyce begins an Adult Literacy class. Her pupils are Thelma, a nanny, and George who is living in a hostel. Their classes, held in a nursery classroom, are interrupted by Kevin, the caretaker, who is illiterate himself. Act II sees the class three months later. George is making good progress and now living in the Wendy House while Thelma is concerned over her inability to read Janet and John. Thin’s come to a head on Joyce’s birthday and culminate in Kevin’s heartrending plea: ‘Teach me to read’.

WOMBERANG – It is the afternoon gynaecology clinic and an assortment of patien’s sit in a grim hospital room. Rita Onions breezes in. Her verve and energy, combined with a complete lack of respect for authority, gradually spreads an infectious, joyous anarchy throughout the patients as she demolishes officious hospital staff and generally sorts out the patients personal problems.
