REP - The History of the Summer Repertory Season at Sidmouth - THE BOOK

This page is dedicated to the research and preparations of a new book charting the history of the Summer Repertory Season at The Manor Pavilion Theatre, Sidmouth – the longest running ‘rep’ season in the UK which is still going strong after more than 65 years.
The book will look at the history of The Manor Pavilion, the history of repertory theatre and will contain profiles of some of the most influential people in the history of the Summer Season – we also plan to document every production produced as part of this glorious celebration of theatre.

We will post updates on here as we find interesting things to share and will keep you up to date with publication plans.

We also want to hear from anyone who has worked on any of the main summer seasons from the late 1950s under Ronald Govey, Charles Vance or Paul Taylor-Mills. Memories of productions, photos, reviews, programmes, posters – all will be useful to us.

While we have some good records of the full programmes in the last 15 years we are going to struggle to find all the details for the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s and so any help with these eras are especially welcome!

Please contact Cormac Richards at theatreplays@proton.me

There are plans to interview anyone with some good stories to tell which will be so good to hear – we want the book to be entertaining as well as informative
